The coming two weeks will be really tough for every biomedical student. We need to do a lot of coursework in this short period. We had 2 assignments, 2 tests, 3 lab reports, 1 poster presentation and 1 group discussion. As for me, data analysis test is the most difficult one and I’m concerned a little bit. I’m now feeling stress for the first time after arriving here. I also feel homesick and need some encouragement from my family or best friends. These days, I didn’t do anything except studying. No shopping, no cooking, no playing table tennis, no social networking… However, praying and practicing meditation could reduce some stress and make my mind calm. I hope I can pass this tough period with smooth and shine.
I joined well-being fayre today. Fayre is another name or pseudo name of fair. It is one of the programmes from well-being campaign and also the last progrmme for this trimester. We celebrated a lot sessions such as “Hug a pug”, “Henna tattoo”, “Bubble wrap” and so on. Most people came for “Hug a pug” session to see “Hank” and give a hug. We also give information about healthy diet and sexual health. Moreover, we also give free fruits and juice to all the students coming the fair today. In addition, we provides some leaflets and booklets about how to relief exam stress, how to reduce panics and the strategies for making the mind calm. A lot of students came and joined the fair and had fun. I hope this fayre will help slobber away any exam stress from students coming today. The last and most exciting fair for this trimester!
Yesterday, I had to take essay writing test under exam condition. But I didn’t finish it. My handwriting is quite slow and needs to improve in rate. I also didn’t finish up one of the questions in last trimester exam and I’ve got only 48 for that essay which was the worst mark for previous trimester. So now I’m planning to prepare writing the drafts prior to the exams in this trimester, not to lose marks again.
This is the gathering of Burmese people at Buccleuch. I really appreciate to my friends who held this home party especially Ma Zin Zin Htet, Zinme Phonemyint, Ain Ngin Bauzil and Wut Yee Win. They treated us with Traditional Myanmar foods, Tofu nway and Pork stew. Actually Tofu nway is Shan’s (one of the major ethnic groups in my country) food. I won’t forget these luscious foods. 18 people, in total, came to this party, amongst 16 are burmese guys. However, those are not all the Burmese folks in glasgow as some didn’t make it that night. We didn’t meet each other very often as we had to study and follow our own careers, we live in the same city, though. We shared our feelings and experiences we met here and in home town. Some people talked about their future and dreams, and others gave advice and suggestions for them. Some guys opened up about their failures and the others motivated them with their past experiences and how they past their hurdles. What a night for us! We started the party at 6 and went back home around 11pm. This is a quite short moment for me but really invaluable and so relaxing… Hope we will meet again soon although we don’t have much free time.
This is my first lab session for this trimester from Applied molecular microbiology module. Last trimester, we had to do independently but we now have a paired work; two for each lab work. So our results depend on both of us. I prefer doing independently as now I don’t have to do some technique that I want to. However, this pair work can improve the teamwork skill. I hope we will get along throughout this whole period.
